BOWMORE Completes Clay Alteration Survey/ Outlines Large Alteration Zone

MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwire - July 14, 2011) - BOWMORE Exploration Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:BOW) ("Bowmore") is pleased to announce that it has completed its phase 2 TerraSpec alteration sampling program, on the "Chivas" property located in the productive Sierra Madre gold belt of Mexico, State of Sonora. The Chivas property is optioned from Amex Exploration Inc. A total of 755 TerraSpec alteration samples were taken and analyzed for high temperature clay alteration minerals that are known to be associated with mineral deposits. Sample analysis was done by Melissa Mateer Ph.D. of Tabatay Geologic Consulting LLC. The program was designed to cover the 'Silica Cap", "Mesa", "Mesa Blanca", "Piedra Rodante" and the "Cerro Rojo" zones by taking samples at an average 100 meters spacing (visit: www.bowmorexploration.com\chivas\TerraSpec.jpg).

The survey covered almost the entire Aster anomalies and the areas of intensely silicified/brecciated strata bound lithocap that is mapped over a strike length of 2.5 kilometres. The survey results indicated the presence of multiphase alteration minerals, starting with the buddingtonite (ammonium feldspar), followed by the Illite and ammonium (NH4) Illite, found in higher concentration on the NW of the large anomaly and on the Mesa Blanca area, being notably associated to volcanic hosted gold mineralization such as the gold bearing Piedra Rodante silicified breccias zone (visit: www.bowmorexploration.com\chivas\Spectroscopy\results.jpg).

The signature and the disposition of the alteration minerals indicate the presence of a low epithermal sulphidation system (Au/Ag) trending NW. These ammonium bearing minerals are particularly interesting, and provide evidence of paleoboiling zones that may lead to fertile precious metal mineralization deposit. The silicified zones (lithocap) area (see press releases dated September 24th 2010 and April 13th 2011) located west of this whole system allows us to establish its original paleosurface level, starting by a large hectometric sequence of felsic tuff-rhyodacite volcanics followed by Cretaceous sediments. To date, the chemical results obtained from the Phase 1 survey samples and from all rock surface samples are showing a relation between anomalous concentrations in arsenic (As) with Illite, NH4 Illite and buddingtonite bearing zones. Chemical results from the phase 2 survey samples are still pending. The whole system is now proven to be bigger, including the Mesa and the Cerro Rojo zones in the NW, covering an area of approximately 5.7 km2 (visit: www.bowmorexploration.com\chivas\alterationzone.jpg).

Structurally, the area was affected by Basin and Range NNW normal faults system and a deep ENE trending fault where the Piedra Rodante area was uplifted, exposing now higher grades with wider gold bearing zones (Hole PR07-19 with 15.24 meters at 1.26g/t Au and 182 g/t Ag). On the Mesa area, the presence of Illite and NH4 Illite is indicated by a sequence of NW to NNW trending silicified breccias and faults, dipping abruptly toward the east. On the Mesa Blanca area, the surface mapping and the results from the survey are supporting the presence of NW, NNW and an ENE faults that are acting as hydrothermal conducts.

Mr. Paul Dumas, President and CEO of Bowmore Exploration Ltd., stated: "We are pleased with the results to date and the recent TerraSpec survey is providing us with a better understanding of this very large alteration zone. We have outlined what seems to be an intense hydrothermal zone that covers several square kilometers".
