BOWMORE Outlines Broad Gold Anomalies in Southern Quebec

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 12, 2010) - BOWMORE Exploration Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:BOW) ("Bowmore") is pleased to announce it has discovered several broad zones of anomalous gold values following regional rock sampling in southern Quebec. The region that was targeted is located within the St-Victor Synclinorium, an extensive belt of sedimentary rocks located within the Appalachians of southern Quebec. This sedimentary belt is host to vein gold deposits in the Bellechasse area as well late 19th century placer gold mining operations in the Chaudiere area.

The St-Victor project is a grass-roots exploration program, initiated in late 2009, that targeted the belt for near-surface, bulk-tonnage, sediment-hosted gold deposits of similar type as Kinross' Paracatu mine in Brazil (reserves of 1,430 million tons grading 0.40 g/t Au for 18 million ounces gold), or the Russian Sukhoi Log deposit, containing total unclassified resources of approximately 48 million ounces gold grading 2 g/t Au.

The St-Victor property now includes 1183 claims covering 69,160 hectares, staked within two major bloc claims and over a length of 150 kilometres along the axis of the belt. This project has thus far consisted of sampling and assaying of approximately 3200 surface rock samples that yielded six anomalous gold zones, spread within the core of the belt along a strike length of 20 kilometres. The three principal gold zones, named Wotton, Wotton NW and Camille, are separated by a maximum of 6.5 kilometres and located about 20 kilometres southeast of the town of Asbestos. The anomalous zones are characterized by partially carbonated (ankeritic) sedimentary rocks that yielded values of 0.05 g/t gold (anomalous threshold) to 0.99 g/t gold over a collective surface of 1.25 square kilometres. Specific characteristics of the three zones are summarized in the table below:

Zone Length (m ) Width (m ) Surface (sq. km ) No. of samples Au value range (g/t ) Au average (g/t )

Camille 1500   100 to 250   0.24   72 0.05 – 0.99   0.17

Wotton 1800   100 to 600   0.81   296 0.05 – 0.48   0.12

Wotton NW 1100   40 to 300   0.20   50 0.05 – 0.44   0.20

All three zones are extensive (hundreds of metres) and consistently anomalous in the gold values of samples collected. Geological data suggest that they are hosted by tightly folded anticlinal structures. Bowmore intends to complete a high-resolution airborne survey over the core of the St-Victor property and drill-test the main three zones in late fall 2010. The other three zones of interest (Gerard, Marc and Boissonneault) remain open and require follow-up sampling.

Mr. Paul Dumas, President and CEO of Bowmore, stated: "These initial results are very encouraging and confirm the potential for low-grade, bulk-tonnage gold deposits in the Quebec Appalachians. The potential for world-class, sediment-hosted gold deposits has largely been ignored in this part of Canada, and we intend to aggressively pursue our gold exploration program in this region that was historically mined for asbestos".
