BOWMORE Receives Positive Results From the First NI 43-101 Report on the Santa Elvira Gold-Copper Skarn Property in Chihuahua State, Mexico

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - May 5, 2009) - BOWMORE Exploration Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:BOW) ("The Company") is pleased to announce positive results from a new NI 43-101 compliant report written by Andre Ciesielski P.Geo., independent Qualified person under NI 43-101. The complete report has been filed on SEDAR and will be posted on the Company's NEW website www.bowmorexploration.com.

Santa Elvira mineralization

Gold and copper mineralization at Santa Elvira is hosted within a southwest shallow-dipping iron skarn dominantly composed of massive magnetite and pyrite. The skarn is hosted by Cretaceous limestone intruded by vertical monzonitic dykes and plugs. An outer oxidized copper-rich part of the skarn is in contact with a brecciated gold-rich, shallow-dipping manto. At surface, the mineralized skarn can be mapped for at least 2 km and is associated with a broad aeromagnetic anomaly.

A total of 58 samples were taken during the preliminary phase of exploration work, from which 29 samples were taken in the pyrite-magnetite brecciated skarn. These samples returned an average of 7.10 g/t Au and 0.91% Cu.

A total of 26 samples from the more oxidized, shallow dipping skarn manto produced an average of 0.80 g/t Au and 0.57% Cu. Three samples taken in the host monzonite and limestone returned insignificant results.

Obra 1 is the main artisanal adit in which an additional 38 samples were taken in three different locations. These samples produced the following results:

SW-trending west far end of the wall (15 samples):
--------------------------------------------------
Minimum: 0.3 g/t Au, 0.14 % Cu
Maximum: 17.2 g/t Au, 1.5 % Cu
Average: 4.6 g/t Au, 0.63 % Cu

South-trending adit (6 samples were taken):
-------------------------------------------
Minimum: 0.01 g/t Au, 0.01 % Cu
Maximum: 27 g/t Au, 1.0 % Cu
Average: 7.1 g/t Au, 0.53 % Cu

WSW-trending main adit (17 samples):
------------------------------------
Minimum: 0.1 g/t Au, 0.2 % Cu
Maximum: 51.50 g/t Au, 4.27 %Cu
Average: 5.86 g/t Au, 1.23 % Cu

Obra 2 is located 30m north of the main Obra 1 adit entry and trends west where 7 samples were taken. These returned only minor gold values with a maximum of 0.83 g/t Au and a maximum of 0.99% Cu.

Obra 3 is located 60m south of the main Obra 1 adit entry where 6 samples were taken. These produced minor gold contents (all below 0.60 g/t Au) and low copper values below 0.63%.

Mr. Paul Dumas, President of Bowmore, stated "We are very encouraged by the results obtained from this sampling program, which confirm the potential of the Santa Elvira property for a significant near-surface gold-copper resource. The Company intends to complete in the summer of 2009 the first phase of exploration as recommended in the latest NI 43-101 report produced by A. Ciesielski, P.Geo."

Recommended exploration program

The report recommends completing a detailed work program which will comprise line cutting oriented E-W on the property and detailed geological cartography of the property, including systematic sampling on all mineralized outcrops. Ground geophysics will include a ground magnetic survey along cut lines with measurement every 25 meters. On completion of this initial exploration work, data will be interpreted to establish drill targets. An estimated 3000 meters of diamond drilling will be carried out in the first phase of the program and if positive, a second phase drill program of 9000 meters will be carried out for a total of approximately 12,000 meters for the two initial phases.

Rock samples were prepared and analyzed by standard fire assay-AA finish (Au) and by AA (Cu) at the facilities of AlS Chemex and (SGM) Servicio Geologico Minero in Chihuahua Mexico, accredited laboratories.
