New Site Is First to Offer 'Lot Auction' Capabilities

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwire - October 7, 2010) - announced this week the opening of, the first platform in the industry that allows members to buy and sell domain names in lot auctions.

"Boxcar lets portfolio owners and brokers market and sell up to fifty names, to multiple players, in a single auction," says Managing Director, Mike Fiol. "It fills a glaring void."

Before Boxcar, owners and brokers were forced to post long lists with contact instructions in order to sell more than a single name. Results are normally subpar and scattered. Alternately, multi-lot auctions have in the past been reserved for the larger houses with proprietary platforms.

"You have to give up 15% commission to even be considered for a public lot auction," adds Fiol, whose other company,, has sold more than $5 million in Internet addresses publicly. Privately the figure is much higher.

Fiol expects both to rise with the addition of the new platform, particularly since it does not require any 'commissions' be paid -- another domain industry first.

"We were the inaugural client," he laughs, citing over a half a dozen auctions the company is already running on the platform. Auctions include names such as,,,,, and more.

"We too are domainers (domain name owners), first and foremost," says Fiol, whose company recently sold "Truth is we built it for those like us, who want to get in the game but have never had the tools. Boxcar is that opportunity... finally."
