BPI Helps Accredited Contractors With Their Marketing Efforts Thanks to Promotional Agreement With

MALTA, NEW YORK--(Marketwire - Nov. 16, 2010) - The Building Performance Institute, Inc. (BPI) today announced a promotional agreement with intended to help GOLD STAR Accredited Contracting Companies with their marketing efforts.

As of today, all BPI GOLD STAR Accredited Contracting Companies will be listed on the contractor directory free of charge. provides educational tools for home owners -- including a basic online energy performance checklist and a database of incentive programs – then connects them with qualified, skilled professionals to help them improve the energy efficiency, durability, comfort, health and safety of their home. Each consumer referral is screened by staff prior to being passed on to the selected contractor, improving the quality of each lead received from the site.

BPI Accredited Contracting Companies follow BPI standards for home assessments (energy audits) and retrofit solution implementation, and comply with requirements for a minimum number of specialized BPI certified professionals on the payroll. Mandatory participation in a rigorous national quality assurance program that includes third-party audits is a requirement of BPI Accreditation.

BPI credentials are referenced and/or required for contracting companies participating in a growing number of federal, state, local and utility home owner incentive programs, including the proposed federal Home Star program (aka Cash for Caulkers). Under many of these programs, only BPI Accredited Contracting Companies may perform energy efficiency retrofit improvements in order for the project to be eligible for funding.

In addition to listing all BPI GOLD STAR Accredited Contractors, will also include companies that employ at least one BPI SILVER STAR Certified Professional, but have not yet attained full Accreditation. All eligible companies will receive an email invitation from BPI with a customized link to activate their account.
