Bradford Co-Operative Announces Management Change

BRADFORD, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 6, 2008) - Bradford Co-operative Storage Ltd. General Manager Ross Belfry recently announced plans to retire later this summer. Belfry has been with Bradford Co-operative for 13 years as general manager.

Belfry plans to step down as the manager on or before July 31, but will stay on as an advisor until the end of the year.

Tony Moro, the co-operative's president says that in the past 13 years, the co-operative's business has grown through expansions into the greenhouse industry as well as other horticultural related entities. Under Belfry's management, Bradford Co-operative Storage has never paid less than six per cent patronage to its members.

The co-operative's board of directors has hired Dave Brand as its new general manager. Brand has worked in the co-operative sector for eight years in various management positions for Simcoe District Co-operative Services and Perth County Co-operative, which later became Inland Co-operative Inc. Most recently, Brand held senior marketing and sales positions with FS PARTNERS, a fairly new organization based in Kitchener that was formed to manage the day-to-day operations of three agricultural co-operatives located in central Ontario.

Brand coaches a number of minor hockey teams and also sits on the executive for minor hockey in his community. He is volunteer firefighter in Milverton where he resides with his wife Wendy and three children ages 11, 9 and 2.

Bradford Co-operative Storage was established in 1945. It provides vegetable and greenhouse supplies to approximately 130 members throughout Ontario. Last year Bradford Co-operative generated $11.5 million in sales and an additional $12 million in sales generated from the co-operative's packing plant located nearby. Bradford Co-operative is a member-owner of GROWMARK, Inc.
