Sara Moore Takes Helm as General Manager

Sara Moore has stepped into the position of General Manager at the Marriott's impressive hotel in Gaithersburg, MD after serving as Assistant General Manager at the stylish Tysons Corner Marriott. Sara has served Marriott International for more than 24 years and most recently led her team in Virginia to improve hotel productivity by over 21 percent. Her merits at Tysons Corner also saw the property earn the highest Guest Satisfaction scores in the hotel's history.

Upon graduation from the University of Maryland, Sara joined the Bethesda Marriott as Benefits Specialist and shortly thereafter entered the company's Management Training Program as a Housekeeping Manager. She later worked in Operations and Human Resources in several of Marriott's Eastern Region hotels including Crystal City, Bethesda Suites, Dulles Airport and Williamsburg. In 2004 she was promoted to Resident Manager at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel where she was recognized with a Renaissance Leadership Excellence Award. 

Jay Lefkowitz Appointed Director of Hotel Operations

Improving operational efficiencies is the expertise Jay Lefkowitz brings to this prestigious choice among hotels near Shady Grove, MD as he takes his place as Director of Operations. Jay formerly served Marriott International as Director of Operations at the Renaissance Charleston Historic District Hotel in Charleston, SC, where he helped lead the team to exceptional results. In addition to improving operational efficiencies in Rooms, Events and Food & Beverage, he assisted with an ownership transition in 2010, stepping up as Acting General Manager. During his tenure in Charleston, Jay also served as Chairperson of the Charleston Marriott Business Council successfully leading 14 area hotels in "Spirit to Serve" initiatives since 2011.

A graduate of Virginia Tech, Jay began his career with Marriott in the Manager Development Program with Marriott Vacation Club International in Hilton Head Island, SC. He continued to work in various Front Office and Human Resource roles with Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Birmingham, AL and San Francisco, CA before returning to Marriott in 2006 as a Front Office Manager and then Director of Services with Marriott Vacation Club in Hilton Head.
