brand.LIVE: One Local Business Working to End Vancouver's Reputation as "No Fun City"

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 24, 2009) - Local brand activation and event production company brand.LIVE is recovering from executing two of the city's biggest events of the year - Summer Sessions at Ambleside, featuring Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow and Neil Young, and Showdown in Downtown, where Steve Nash, Baron Davis, Hasheem Thabeet and the Vancouver Whitecaps slugged it out in an eight-a-side charity soccer match in Vancouver's David Lam Park.

Local police estimated over 13,000 fans enjoyed the musical summer night in Ambleside and 5,000 sports lovers cheered on the teams in Yaletown. For a city with the infamous tag as No Fun City, brand.LIVE sees all that changing. And it's about time.

"We know this is an energized city, and people here want to celebrate," says Paul Runnals, Senior VP of Production. "They've just needed reasons to come together and have a great time - and that's what we've been giving them. Plus, with the Olympics around the corner, there couldn't be a better time to ramp up our city's spirit and give them a little practice at whooping it up."

brand.LIVE is no stranger to large-scale city celebrations, having produced the inaugural Illuminate Yaletown outdoor multi-media event earlier this year, Festival 150 - a three-day outdoor concert in Victoria's inner harbor, and countless other city-wide events around the Grey Cup festival in 2005.

And while events are thrilling fans, they're also promoting brands, Runnals is quick to point out. "Brands like Whistler Brewing, The Sarah McLachlan Foundation and RBC got huge visibility at these recent events, and that's a core part of our business: producing extraordinary events that also shine the spotlight on brands, putting them right where their customers are. It's a win win."

Next up for brand.LIVE is producing three creative, energizing pavilions - Vancouver House, Holland Heineken House and Alberta House - for the city to experience during the 2010 Winter Olympics.
