Brandery Opens 2011 Application Period

Consumer Marketing Accelerator on the Hunt for Good Startups

CINCINNATI, OH--(Marketwire - April 1, 2011) - Cincinnati's nationally recognized consumer marketing accelerator The Brandery today opened the application period for a new class of high-tech startup companies.

The Brandery will accept applications from April 1-June 1, and applications are available at Qualified companies must be technology-based, consumer-oriented and early stage. Five companies will be accepted, and the program begins Aug. 1.

The 12-week program pairs companies with $20,000 in funding as well as mentors in consumer marketing and product development.

From the class of six startups last fall, two have received venture capital funding and two are in the process of negotiating with venture funds.

The Brandery is a founding member of the TechStars Network, a national affiliation of 16 startup accelerators around the country that share resources and best practices in promoting entrepreneurship. The network is part of the White House jobs growth initiative Startup America.

The $20,000 company grants will come from CincyTech, a Cincinnati-based public-private venture development group that invests in high-tech startup companies. Support also is provided by the Haile/U.S. Bank Foundation and the Procter & Gamble Fund.

About The Brandery
The Brandery is a Cincinnati-based nonprofit startup accelerator founded with the goal of supporting startups in technology-based consumer marketing. More than 30 mentors work with the companies, which each receive $20,000 in seed money from Cincinnati-based venture development firm CincyTech. Good candidates are consumer-facing startups such as consumer Internet, media and entertainment companies that are based on technology platforms.

Class 1 included: Giftiki, Idea Rally, LifeBlinx, turboBOTZ, VenturePax and Venue Agent.
