BRAWLEY, CA--(Marketwire - August 13, 2007) - Brandt Beef - The True Natural, a family owned,
premium natural beef producer, announced today its participation in the Old
Town State Park Dinner on Friday, August 31. The event, held from 5 - 9
p.m., will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first mail delivery to
San Diego which occurred in 1857.
The evening will feature an alfresco, lantern-lit, slow food dining
experience in the plaza of Old Town San Diego State Historic Park.
Regional chefs will gather to prepare some of the finest slow food dishes,
inspired by the types of foods and recipes of early San Diego.
Executive Chef Tom McAliney of Brandt Beef will prepare dry-rubbed Brandt
Beef briskett with red-eye gravy accompanied by German lager baked beans
and skillet bread. Chef McAliney said that the menu he created is somewhat
reminiscent of what the old Pony Express and mail delivery men would have
experienced along their journey. Other participating chefs represent the
following organizations: The Lodge at Torrey Pines, Stone Brewing World
Bistro and Gardens, Waters Fine Catering, Salerno Winery, Hacienda de la
Rosas, Restaurant Romesco, Barona Casino, El Fandango, and Mrs. Trimmer's.
"The slow food movement is dedicated to sustainability and the support of
family farms, local artisans and the preservation of cultural food
traditions," said Chef McAliney. "At Brandt Beef, we embrace
environmentally sustainable practices in our pursuit to produce the finest
premium natural beef. We are extremely honored to participate in the Old
Town State Park Dinner, as this event is committed to restoring traditions
and people's passion for the foods they consume."
In addition to the dinner, the celebration will also include a silent
auction, period art and craftwork, blacksmiths, and live entertainment
featuring the 1850s sound of Yale Strom and the Hot Pastromi.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the California State Parks Foundation,
the non-profit organization dedicated to protecting, enhancing and
advocating for California's state parks, and the Boosters of Old Town
(BOOT), the non-profit organization dedicated to the support of
interpretation and education programs in Old Town San Diego State Historic
Park.
Tickets for the event are limited and cost $45 per guest. Tables of six
and 10 are available for the dinner by request. After August 15, tickets
will increase to $65 per guest. To purchase tickets or for more
