Brandywine to Break Ground on New Community of 18 Single-Family Detached Homes in Garden Grove

Walden Will Employ More Than 150 During Construction, Help Boost Local Economy

GARDEN GROVE, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 14, 2013) - Brandywine Homes, an industry leader in infill real estate developments, has started construction on a new community on nearly two acres in Garden Grove, Calif.

This new residential community called Walden will feature 18 single-family detached homes with full driveways on spacious 3,000-square-foot-lots. The homes will come with stainless steel kitchen appliances, granite countertops and two-toned paint.

Construction is expected to be completed by summer of 2014. Currently existing on the site is the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, which hasn't been utilized by the owners for years but has been leased to other congregations for their use. The seller, St. Mark's Lutheran Church, was represented by Gerald R. Bushore Real Estate Broker Inc.

The community will be off of Katella Avenue in the heart of Orange County and close to freeways the Disney theme parks, Downtown Disney and Knott's Berry Farm and Soak City.

"These homes will have high-end amenities and owners will be near restaurants, shopping and nightlife," said Brett Whitehead, president of Brandywine Homes, which has become one of Southern California's most successful builders by creating small and mid-sized infill communities. "This project should employ well over 150 people during construction and the economic boost to the city of Garden Grove will be significant."

Once completed, the Walden project is expected to generate nearly $134,000 a year in property tax revenue and pump $558,000 into the local economy, based on a formula by the National Association of Home Builders.

Walden will be served by the Garden Grove Unified School District and the award-winning Rancho Alamitos High School, known for its magnet arts and music programs.
