Brazil Dominates Cheapflights.com's South America's Rising Stars Report

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - October 6, 2010) -  Cheapflights.com has released the fourth installment of its Rising Stars series. This report takes a look at travel to South America, a continent with enchanting geography, cuisine and culture where one can explore the rugged landscape of Patagonia, drink epic wines in Chile, and dance the night away in Buenos Aires.

After compiling search data from the first six months of 2009 and 2010, Cheapflights.com, the online leader in finding and publishing travel deals, has published its 2010 South America's Rising Stars Report. The list ranks the 50 most frequently searched destinations in South America at Cheapflights.com according to their change in popularity over 2009.

Brazil owns the list with over 20 cities rising in popularity in 2010. Brazil's Cuiaba and Iguassu Falls made the top five cities that experienced the biggest rise in popularity from 2009 to 2010. Brazil also was the number one country to show an increase in popularity in sister site Cheapflights.ca's South America's Rising Stars Report. Montevideo, Uruguay, is also a new favorite with Canadians and Americans alike. The coastal city, which is capital of Uruguay, landed in the top five on both lists.

Methodology
The 2010 South America's Rising Stars Report was compiled by comparing the difference in search volume between 2009 and 2010 for the 50 most-searched destinations in South America.
