Breakdance Meets Classical Music in Daring Red Bull Flying Bach Performance Debuting at Toronto's Massey Hall

World Breakdance Champions, the Flying Steps, Will Perform to Live Classical Music in the Ultimate Clash of Cultures

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - October 06, 2014) - This month, after more than 100 sold out shows worldwide, the celebrated breakdance crew, the Flying Steps, will head to Toronto to kick-off a series of eight Red Bull Flying Bach performances in Canada. A live showcase unlike any other in theatre production today, Red Bull Flying Bach fuses the unlikely combination of contemporary dance and breakdance with live classical music.

The show spans roughly 65 minutes in length, and features group synchronized breakdance to the backdrop of the live performance of Johann Sebastian Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier. The Canadian portion of the world tour will include four consecutive shows in Toronto at the legendary Massey Hall on October 16-19, followed by four consecutive shows in Montreal at Théâtre Maisonneuve on October 23-26.

PERFORMANCE FORMAT: BREAKDANCE MEETS BACH

Red Bull Flying Bach features the seven break dancers of the Flying Steps along with contemporary Swedish dancer Anna Holmström, performing a series of vignettes with a stunning array of breaking, popping and locking, flares, head and hand spins, footwork and acrobatics.

Opera director and pianist extraordinaire Christoph Hagel serves as Music Director, performing Johann Sebastian Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier live on solo piano and harpsichord. In between Bach's rolling preludes and fugues, electronic beats created by Ketan and Vivian Bhatti turn traditional melodies into modern anthems.
