Breastfeeding Goes Bay Street

Former Bay Street Lawyer Launches Peepboo, Upscale Clothing Line for Breastfeeding Moms

What do you get when a breastfeeding Bay Street business lawyer gets frustrated with her clothing options? Peepboo, or what lawyers are calling a patent-pending nursing garment system. Breastfeeding moms are calling it about time.

Anita Huntley conceived of Peepboo, her upscale line of nursingwear, while breastfeeding her first son. On maternity leave from one of Canada's top laws firms but still doing all the things necessary to maintain her practice – client lunches, partner meetings, speaking engagements – she found her wardrobe left her out in the cold.

"I was trying to stay in contact with colleagues, clients and friends," Huntley says. "But always wrestling awkwardly with buttons and snaps, yanking up, pulling down. Resorting to nursing tank tops and t-shirts that were just too casual to cut it under a suit or blazer. Frankly, I found it difficult to feel professional, let alone look polished. It was like no one in the fashion industry had contemplated I would keep doing what I was doing, only breastfeeding."

Huntley thought a lot about how simple it could be to balance breastfeeding with other aspects of her life – if only there was a different way to dress. Smart and contemporary, but designed with breastfeeding moms in mind. Two years later, Peepboo was born, launching its first collection just in time for Huntley to nurse her second son in style.

More than just clothes, Peepboo is a system of dressing for breastfeeding moms. A hidden shelf bra in a cami or dress with a new mode of nursing access that's literally at your fingertips. No snaps, gaps or zippers. Layered ingeniously under tops, shirts and details that make breastfeeding moms love their closets again. Manufactured in Toronto, Canada from fabrics that are as gorgeous as they are practical.

Customers can shop the Peepboo collection online at or join Huntley for a hands-on peek at the Peepboo Launch Party and Pop-up Boutique on Thursday, December 9, 2010 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in the Sand Room at Verity, 111 Queen Street East, Toronto. Attendees can enter at the door for a chance to win a $300 Peepboo shopping spree.
