Error, One of Top 20 Patentees in State, Receives 2013 Utah Genius Award

SILICON SLOPES, UT--(Marketwired - May 02, 2013) -  Brett Error, Domo chief scientist and chief strategy officer, was recognized last week with a 2013 Utah Genius award.

Each year, the Utah Genius award program recognizes the creative people and companies behind Utah's economy. The awards are based on objective statistics from the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Error ranked as one of the Top 20 patentees in Utah for 2012. His inventions include numerous technologies and methodologies for enhancing the way that web data is captured and analyzed to improve the way customers manage their online marketing and e-commerce initiatives.

"The innovative contributions of so many engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, artists and producers have resulted in a rich creative economic heritage in the State of Utah," said Spencer Eccles, executive director of Utah's Governor's Office of Economic Development. "The contributions of our State's creative economy is intrinsically linked to Utah's economic strengths and leadership."

For 14 years prior to Domo, Error served as Omniture's CTO, leading the company's product development. There he designed and developed the world's first enterprise SaaS/on-demand software system, which scaled to handle more than 1.5 trillion transactions per quarter and serve more than 6,000 customers. Under his leadership, Omniture became one of the world's largest data systems, second only to Akamai.

The Utah Genius awards program was presented by Bateman IP, KSL Radio and KSL TV. Sponsoring organizations include GoEngineer, Springboard, BTJD, KUER 90.1, the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, Utah's Governor's Office of Economic Development and Zions Bank.
