Brian Elliott, Brian Lee and Spartacat Visit Scotiabank Read to Succeed Winning Class

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 25, 2009) - The Ottawa Senators' commitment to community outreach programs throughout the National Capital Region continues this week.

Spartacat will be joined by Senators goaltender Brian Elliott and defenceman Brian Lee as part of Scotiabank Read to Succeed's "Sparty Party." Scotiabank Read to Succeed is a literacy initiative presented free of charge by the Ottawa Senators to assist elementary school teachers in motivating their students to read on a daily basis through incentives and rewards.

Each month Sparty visits six classes throughout the region to reward students for their reading efforts during the previous month. One appearance takes place with a Senators player(s). On Friday, Sparty, Elliott and Lee will visit Lisa Levitan's kindergarten class at John Young Public School in Kanata to read a book to the class, answer questions and sign autographs. During each visit, Sparty delivers pizza to the class courtesy of Pizza Pizza and juice courtesy of Coca-Cola for lunch.

Teachers interested in registering their classes for Scotiabank Read to Succeed or any other Sens@School program can do so by visiting the Senators website at www.ottawasenators.com.
