Global Competition Recognizes Most Innovative Uses of Social Media to Overcome Major Organizational Challenges in 13 Categories

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Oct 15, 2012) -  The Fearless Group, a full-service communications agency headquartered in New York City, today announces that Brian Rice, a founding partner and head of its social marketing practice, will be a judge for the first 'Social Media Leadership Awards.' The Social Media Leadership Awards (SMLA) is a global competition created by Knowledge@Wharton, Social Strategy1 and sponsor Ernst & Young to recognize companies that have used or created best practices in social media to overcome major organizational challenges in any of 13 critical categories.

A VIP reception, workshop series and awards luncheon will be held during a two-day event on the Wharton campus in Philadelphia, PA on November 7-8, 2012. Mr. Rice is a veteran entrepreneur and angel investor in the marketing services and technology sectors. In addition to his role at The Fearless Group, he is an investor and advisor to Optimal and ITagility, companies that power and innovate the use of social media in business. Brian is also co-founder of Gocella, a mobile marketing software suite built for small to large businesses.

As a judge at the SMLA competition, Rice joins a panel comprised of global business, social media, and academic leaders who will select and honor a winner from each category. One Grand Champion will be announced during the event's expert workshop series that takes place Thursday, November 8, 2012. Award recipients will receive global exposure through the digital properties and assets of the competition's founding executive partners and network of top-tier social media leaders.
