Bridge Lane, New York's Most Innovative Wine Company, Puts GOOD Wine in Box for Summer

CUTCHOGUE, NY--(Marketwired - July 24, 2015) - Box wines get a bad rap, and rightfully so. A lot of it is mass-produced, sweet and tasteless. But recently, some quality producers have been getting into the game and are starting to put good (and sometimes really good) wine in box. Bridge Lane, produced by Long Island's Lieb Cellars, is one of those producers.

"We introduced our Bridge Lane series in 2014 to offer a line of fruit-forward wines at wallet-friendly price points," explained Lieb Cellars' general manager and certified sommelier Ami Opisso. "Last year, we realized we could offer even better value if we explored alternative formats."

In March 2014, they introduced Bridge Lane White Blend and Bridge Lane Red Blend in 3L boxes which hold the equivalent of 4 bottles of wine and retail for $40 ($10/bottle). That may seem on the high end for box wine, but Opisso says the wine is unlike almost every other box on the market. "We don't use lesser quality grapes. We put the same wine in box that we put in bottle. The wines are dry, hand-crafted and made in small batches with sustainably farmed grapes. They're everything you don't expect from a box wine."

After selling out of their supply in 7 months, Lieb decided to expand their box wine offering this year and now markets 5 varieties: Chardonnay, White Merlot, Rosé, White Blend and Red Blend.

For the summer, Lieb is encouraging consumers to consider their boxes for outdoor drinking occasions.

"Think beach days, boat trips, bon fires, pool parties and barbecues," said Opisso. Boxes are easy to buy, easy to transport and easy to use. No corkscrew and no broken glass. And, because Bridge Lane's box wines are dry, crisp and refreshing, they're the perfect accompaniment to a hot summer's day.

Opisso added, "To me, nothing says summer like dry rosé. Our box rosé is made from Cabernet Franc and is killer. At the equivalent of $10/bottle, it should be at EVERY barbecue this summer."

Bridge Lane box wines are currently available for purchase online ( with free shipping, in retail stores throughout NY, MA, CT, RI, NJ, and PA and in Lieb Cellars' tasting rooms located in Cutchogue and Mattituck, Long Island, NY.
