Bridgelux Recognized Among America's Fastest Growing Private Companies on Inc. 5000 List

LIVERMORE, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 4, 2012) - Bridgelux, Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of LED lighting technologies and solutions, has been included for the second consecutive year on the Inc. 5000 list, Inc. Magazine's sixth annual ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in America. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy -- America's independent entrepreneurs.

Bridgelux is at the forefront of the solid state lighting revolution. In the past year, the Livermore, California-based company's achievements include Toshiba's investment in Bridgelux and announcement that it will produce LEDs based on Bridgelux's "GaN-on-Silicon" technology. GaN-on-Silicon, a major breakthrough in solid state lighting, promises to dramatically slash the cost of lighting by allowing LED manufacturers to build their chips on silicon, rather than more expensive substrates like sapphire. Also this year, Bridgelux developed a financed retrofit program to help municipalities obtain new LED streetlights and lower their energy consumption without spending capital: the cost of the streetlights is covered by the drop in utility expenses.

Inc. ranks these private companies according to percentage revenue growth from 2008 through 2011. In a stagnant economic environment, median growth rate of 2012 Inc. 5000 companies remains an impressive 97 percent. The companies on this year's list report having created over 400,000 jobs in the past three years, and aggregate revenue among the honorees reached $299 billion.

"Bridgelux is honored to be selected for the second year in a row for a place in the Inc. 5000 list. This serves as recognition of both the growth of the solid state lighting industry and the hard work of our employees in the success of our company," said Bill Watkins, chief executive officer of Bridgelux. "We believe this also demonstrates the increasingly important role that clean technologies are playing in the rejuvenation of the American manufacturing sector."

"Now, more than ever, we depend on Inc. 500/5000 companies to spur innovation, provide jobs, and drive the economy forward. Growth companies, not large corporations, are where the action is," says Inc. Editor Eric Schurenberg.

The Inc. 5000 companies, including Bridgelux, are profiled on Inc.com and will be celebrated at the Inc. 500|5000 Conference and Awards Ceremony from October 3-5, 2012, at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Each year, Inc. and Inc.com celebrate the remarkable achievements of today's entrepreneurial superstars -- the privately held small businesses that drive our economy. The Inc. 500|5000 Conference & Awards Ceremony brings together members of the Inc. community, both a new class of Inc. 500|5000 honorees and the list's alumni, for three days of powerful networking, inspired learning, and momentous celebration.

About Inc. 500|5000

In 1982, Inc. introduced the Inc. 500 list of the fastest-growing privately held companies in the United States. Since then, this prestigious list of the nation's most successful private companies has become the hallmark of entrepreneurial success and the place where future household names first make their mark. Pandora, 7 Eleven, Toys 'R' Us, Zipcar, Zappos.com and numerous other well-known brands have been honored by the Inc. 500|5000. In 2007, the Inc. 500 list expanded to the Inc. 500|5000, giving readers a deeper, richer understanding of the entrepreneurial landscape and capturing a broader spectrum of success.

Today, the list is a distinguished editorial award, a celebration of innovation, a network of entrepreneurial leaders, and an effective public relations showcase. The Inc. 500|5000 ranks companies by overall revenue growth over a three-year period. All 5,000 honoree companies are individually profiled on Inc.com.
