Bridgelux Selected as 2014 New Energy Pioneer

Companies From Around the World Are Recognized as Leaders Driving Change in the Energy System

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Apr 7, 2014) - Bridgelux, a leading developer and manufacturer of LED lighting technologies and solutions, has been selected as a 2014 New Energy Pioneer winner by Bloomberg New Energy Finance. The winning companies were recognized on stage at the seventh annual Bloomberg New Energy Finance Summit in New York City.

"Bridgelux is thrilled to have been named a BNEF New Energy Pioneer," said David Connors, vice president of Marketing and Corporate Development. "The transition to LED lighting presents a once in a lifetime opportunity to dramatically reduce energy consumption worldwide. For the last twelve years, Bridgelux has dedicated itself to delivering the innovation and technology required to enable this powerful transition. We are delighted to be recognized among the leaders in this important field."

Bridgelux is a Silicon Valley based company that has helped pioneer the development of LED lighting products for general illumination. Since 2009, Bridgelux has served its customers with chip, light source, and sub-systems products across commercial and industrial, outdoor and consumer product segments around the globe. Some of Bridgelux's innovations include:

  • GaN-on-Silicon, a new basis for LED chip technology that will reduce the cost of LED chips by over 50 percent, greatly expand the potential manufacturing footprint for LEDs, and enable radical package and system level innovations. Toshiba and Bridgelux will bring GaN-on-Silicon products to market later this year.

  • Vero™, an innovating packaging technology that boosts lumen output of LED light fixtures by over 20 percent, simultaneously increasing performance and reducing cost. The Vero Series™ delivers best in class solid state lighting technology and is backed by the industry's first 10-year warranty for chip on board LED products.

  • The newly released Bridgelux Outdoor Lighting Module (OLM) which integrates optics, LEDs and other components into a single package to produce weather-resistant lights outdoor and industrial applications. OLM can accelerate product development time by three to six months and reduce the cost of manufacturing outdoor lights by 10 to 20%.

Bridgelux will next demonstrate how integrating wireless smart controls directly onto its LED packages can further reduce energy consumption and accelerate customer adoption.

The awards program, now in its fifth year, selects ten New Energy Pioneers each year. This year the independent panel of industry experts selected the winners from numerous applicants from around the world, assessing them against three criteria: innovation, demonstrated momentum and potential global scale.
