Bridgestream Announces General Availability of SmartRoles Discoverer

New Offering Discovers Candidate Roles, Rules and Policies to Automate the Role Lifecycle Management

LAS VEGAS, NV -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 29, 2006 --Bridgestream, Inc., a leading provider of business roles automation solutions, today announced the general availability of SmartRoles Discoverer, a new offering in the SmartRoles product suite. Unlike other role mining solutions, SmartRoles Discoverer discovers candidate roles as well as rules and policies to govern them and then exports those roles and policies to completely automate the role lifecycle management.

The following capabilities in SmartRoles Discoverer accelerate business and IT role management:

-- Imports user, resource, privilege, and organization information from
various sources to create a data set for analysis
-- Analyzes and reports on imported privilege data
-- Discovers candidate IT roles
-- Visually compares discovered roles with imported groups/roles
-- Discovers potential rules and policies around candidate roles
-- Exports role definition and policies for complete role lifecycle
    management into SmartRoles

"The ability to discover hidden rules in privilege data makes SmartRoles Discoverer unique and simplifies our IT administration costs," said Paul Rarey, security solution architect, Safeway. "And because SmartRoles integrates with provisioning systems, we have improved visibility and control to ensure that our users have the correct access for their role."

"Being able to manage the complexity and variety of business roles within the enterprise, and the IT-level access privileges that distinguish one role from another, is a key step in addressing the identity and access management requirements of security administration and regulatory compliance initiatives," said Roberta J. Witty, research vice president at Gartner, Inc. "Therefore, enterprises need a solution that brings together business and IT information to identify suggested roles and the business policies associated with role assignment."

In its "Magic Quadrant for User Provisioning, 1H06" report, Gartner stated that full role management for enterprises (RME) capabilities don't have to be native capabilities within the user provisioning product. Partnering with an RME vendor is considered positive. IBM, Oracle and Sun Microsystems, who have all placed in the Leaders Quadrant for User Provisioning, have selected Bridgestream as their partner for role management.
