Brigadier Gold Announces Appointment of Senior Geologist

Dr. Derek McBride, P.Eng. Brings 30 Years of International Exploration Experience to Brigadier

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 9, 2006) - Brigadier Gold Limited (TSX VENTURE:BRG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Derek E. McBride, P.Eng. as Senior Geologist. With 30 years of experience in all facets of mineral exploration in Canada and internationally, Dr. McBride will play a key role in the exploration of Brigadier's gold projects with a particular focus on the Hunter Mine, a former producer in the prolific Porcupine Gold Camp near Timmins, Ontario where over 60 million ounces of gold has been mined.

Dr. McBride is a professional engineer educated at the Haileybury School of Mines in Haileybury, Ont. where he earned a diploma of mining technology; Queen's University in Kingston, Ont., where he received his B.Sc. in geological engineering and economic geology and his M.Sc. in economic geology and lithogeochemistry; and the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, NB, where he received his Ph.D. in economic and structural geology.

Over the past three decades, Dr. McBride has worked on projects in Australia, Canada, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Honduras, Indonesia, Mexico, Mongolia, Nicaragua and Peru. Highlights include development of the exploration model that led to the discovery of the Nugget Pond gold deposit in Newfoundland, and development and supervision of an exploration program that resulted in the discovery of the New Reward Zone near the Hawkins Hill Gold Deposit in New South Wales, Australia.
