Brigadier Gold Limited (TSX-V BRG) has Commenced Exploration on M Island

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - July 13, 2005) - Brigadier Gold Limited (TSX VENTURE:BRG) has commenced exploration on its M Island gold project, Kirkland Lake - Larder Lake area, northeastern Ontario. M-Island is located in the Southwest Arm of Larder Lake and three historical blasted trenches on the shore of this island carry significant values in gold. The Brigadier Gold Limited exploration personnel are cleaning out these old trenches in order to resample and confirm the historical gold assays.

M-Island was explored by Knutson Mining Corp. Ltd. in the late 1930's. Ontario Ministry of Northern Development and Mines records indicate that three trenches totalling 200 feet, and three drill holes totalling 792 feet were dug out and drilled within an area of approximately 100 feet by 160 feet. The rocks encountered were sulphide bearing altered syenite porphyries and dolomite (ultramafic metavolcanics altered to a fuchsite-bearing rock locally called green carbonate or dolomite).

Historical maps of the trenches and drill hole cross-sections show, what is assumed to be, gold values in dollars per ounce over intervals in inches. The gold price was fixed at $35 per ounce in the late 1930's.

Trench "C" historic assays indicate a weighted average of 0.090 ounces gold per ton over an interval of approximately 72.0 feet, including individual assay intervals of 0.25 ounces gold per ton over 4.5 feet and 0.31 ounces gold per ton over 4.5 feet. Also, included in this weighted 72.0 foot interval are weighted average assay intervals of: 0.19 ounces gold per ton over 18.25 feet and 0.15 ounces gold per ton over 23.42 feet.

Trench "B" returned a weighted average of 0.12 ounces gold per ton over an interval of 27.25 feet including an interval of 9.83 feet grading 0.23 ounces gold per ton. Drill hole No. 3 drilled 60 feet to the south and parallel to Trench "C", intersected 0.13 ounces gold per ton over an interval of 14.33 feet, which includes an interval of 5.33 feet grading 0.30 ounces gold per ton.

Allan J. Willy, P.Eng., Geologist is the qualified person managing the M-Island project and is being assisted by Val Volodine, M.Sc., Geologist.
