Bright House Selects BigBand Networks for Its Switched Digital Video Deployments

Six of the Top 10 Cable Operators Have Deployed, or Are in the Process of Deploying, BigBand's SDV, Surpassing More Than 16 Million Households Passed

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwire - September 16, 2008) - BigBand Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: BBND), a leading innovator in digital video networking, today announced that Bright House Networks (BHN) has completed installation of the first phase of its switched digital video solution (SDV) in Orlando, Florida. BHN has also begun deployment of BigBand SDV in Tampa, Florida and Indianapolis, Indiana. BigBand also announced that its switched digital video solution is now deployed or being deployed to pass more than 16 million households.

"We selected BigBand Networks for our SDV roll outs not only because the company has a proven SDV solution but because BigBand has the ability to deploy SDV rapidly," said Jeff Chen, senior vice president of advanced technologies at Bright House. "BigBand's professionalism and expertise are helping accelerate our implementation of switched digital video. I'm especially pleased with the tight integration between our respective teams."

With the addition of BHN, BigBand has been selected to provide its SDV solution to the top six MSOs in the country today. The wealth of experience that BigBand has accumulated over these deployments enables the company's professional services team to install and initiate the turn up of a switched digital video system in 90 days or fewer.

"At Bright House, we continue to demonstrate that switched digital video can be rapidly deployed when done so by experts familiar with the technology." said David Heard, BigBand's chief operating officer. "Once in place, BigBand SDV provides cable operators with a proven, reliable and cost-effective way to offer broader choices of HD and SD programming. It also opens the door to an evolution towards increasingly personalized television experiences."

BigBand's SDV solution has been deployed, or is in the process of being deployed, by six of the top 10 operators across 28 cable systems that pass more than 16 million households. Switched digital video is built to enable dramatic savings in bandwidth consumption, allowing cable operators to increase revenues via expanded program offerings and the delivery of advanced advertising and personalized content.
