BrightLine Joins Cloud Security Alliance as Corporate Member

TAMPA, FL--(Marketwired - April 02, 2014) - BrightLine CPAs & Associates, Inc., a leading provider of compliance and attestation reporting services, is pleased to announce that it has joined the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) as a Corporate Member. The CSA is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within cloud computing, and to provide education on the use of cloud computing to help secure all other forms of computing.

While multiple BrightLine professionals have already assisted in research efforts with the CSA, the corporate membership allows BrightLine to join the steering committee for Security, Trust & Assurance Registry (STAR) certification and attestation. The CSA STAR certification is a rigorous third party independent assessment of the security of a cloud service provider (CSP). The technology-neutral certification leverages the management system requirements of the ISO/IEC 27001 standard with the CSA CCM, a specified set of criteria across multiple control domains specific to issues that are critical to cloud security. Additionally, the STAR attestation program leverages the AICPA SOC 2 framework, under attestation standard AT 101.

"BrightLine is already providing assurance and certification services to many leading CSPs, which allows them to differentiate themselves and to improve cloud computing assurance," said Jim Reavis, co-founder and CEO of CSA. "As a new partner, BrightLine has joined a committed group of security industry leaders who understand the importance of compliance and transparency for cloud computing."

BrightLine is the only organization in the world fully accredited to provide service organization controls (SOC) examinations, PCI validations, ISO 27001 certifications, and FedRAMP assessments. This suite of services allows BrightLine to provide the internal security controls validation for CSP's, which may be mandated by user organizations or federal agencies. These services can help demonstrate the independence and proficiency to create a trusted relationship between organizations and the CSP's that host their critical data.

"For years, BrightLine has shared CSA's vision of simplifying cloud compliance. What CSA has done through research, BrightLine practices through building complementary assessment offerings with the test once -- report many approach," said Doug Barbin, Principal, BrightLine. "BrightLine is committed to helping our cloud provider clients obtain the best return on their compliance investments. Additionally, by working together with the CSA, we can promote the use of best practices for cloud environments."
