Brilliant Commences 2006 Labrador Exploration Program

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - April 11, 2006) - Brilliant Mining Corp. (TSX VENTURE:BMC) is pleased to announce that the 2006 exploration program on the company's 100% owned Michikamau Ni-Cu-Co-PGE Project located in west central Labrador has commenced. The 2006 exploration program at Michikamau will consist of detailed airborne geophysics and diamond drilling.

The Michikamau project covers 116.5 square kilometers along the southern margin of the Michikamau layered gabbro-anorthosite (troctolite) intrusion. This intrusion is considered to be highly favourable for hosting Ni-Cu-Co-PGE mineralization and represents a conceptual and empirical exploration target for Voisey's Bay type mineralization. The property is proximally situated to existing infrastructure including the Churchill Falls hydroelectric facility.

In August 2005, a 229 line km GEOTEM airborne geophysical survey was carried out over the property claim block at a line spacing of 200m. This survey identified several shallow, high-priority electromagnetic conductors within the interpreted feeder or "throat" zone. Further geological and geophysical modeling suggests magmatic sulphides are the source of these anomalies. Field investigations revealed these anomalies are coincident with low-lying swampy areas devoid of outcrop.

A detailed 275 line kilometre AEROTEM "infill" geophysical survey is currently underway with results expected by the end of April. This helicopter-borne survey will be flown with tighter line spacings and at a lower altitude than prior fixed-wing surveys to refine conductors previously identified by the company. Lantech Drilling Services of Dieppe, N.B., has been contracted to conduct a minimum of 1,000m of diamond drilling on the targets with the commencement of drilling planned for August.

The project is supervised by Rob Carpenter, Ph.D., P.Geo., a Director of Brilliant Mining Corporation, and the Qualified Person as defined in National Instrument 43-101.
