Brilliant Mining Corp.: 32% Increase in Deacon Indicated Resource and 80% Increase in Deacon Inferred Resource

Lanfranchi Nickel Mine, Kambalda District of Western Australia

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - April 16, 2007) - Brilliant Mining Corp. (TSX VENTURE:BMC) ("Brilliant" or the "Company") today announced that the recent completion of the resource delineation drill program and subsequent upgrade to the mineral resource estimate has significantly increased the Deacon Indicated Resource from 37,540 tonnes to 49,697 tonnes (109,563,130 lbs) of contained nickel metal and the Inferred Resource from 4,650 tonnes to 8,389 tonnes (18,494,579 lbs) of nickel metal.

"Since October 2006, the Deacon has rapidly evolved from discovery to a significant component of the Lanfranchi Nickel Mine's resource inventory and one of the largest nickel resources in the World Class Kambalda Nickel District," stated Brilliant Mining CEO, John Williamson.

Key Point Summary

- Indicated Resource increases 12,157 tonnes of Ni metal with 1,606,588 tonnes at 3.09% Ni for 49,697 tonnes of Ni metal

- Inferred Resource increases 3,739 tonnes of Ni metal with 302,977 tonnes at 2.77% Ni for 8,389 tonnes of Ni metal

- Massive sulphide component contributes 184,719 tonnes at 7.49% Ni for 13,837 tonnes of Ni metal

- The Deacon Resource remains open both up and down plunge

- Drilling to test the Up-plunge extent at Deacon has commenced

- The Deacon/Helmut Ni sulphide channel now contains the greatest volume of defined Ni on the Property

- Detailed mine planning is underway with a production target as early as Q3 2007

"Current interpretation indicates that Deacon and Helmut South represent one single larger deposit. This would make the Deacon/Helmut Ni sulphide channel the 5th largest deposit ever discovered in the Kambalda Region and highlights the substantial economic impact that Deacon could have on both the Lanfranchi Nickel Mine and Brilliant's future operations," stated Brilliant Mining Chairman, John Robins.

The Deacon mineralization has been the focus of an underground resource definition drill program from a dedicated hanging wall drill drive since late November 2006. Drilling from the drill drive was completed at the beginning of April 2007. A total of 44 underground diamond drill holes, comprising 7,106 metres were completed and now form the basis of this upgraded Indicated and Inferred Resource Estimate (See Table 1 for breakdown of resources).

Deacon is a coherent zone of disseminated and matrix style mineralization containing significant zones of high grade massive sulphide mineralization. The mineralization occurs within a well defined "channel" structure located immediately to the west of Helmut South (See Figure 1). The channel appears to be oriented sub-parallel to the Helmut South orebody with mineralization outlined so far over a strike length of 450m, an increase of 75m on the previous estimate, and is still open both up and down plunge (Figure 2).

Production Plans

The Deacon upgraded Indicated Resource estimate of 49,697 tonnes (109,563,130 lbs) of Ni metal is 2.4 times larger than the initial estimated Helmut South Indicated Resource of 729,000 tonnes at 2.9% Ni (21,000 tonnes of Ni metal), which underpinned the original purchase of the Lanfranchi Mine by the Lanfranchi Joint Venture. In addition, the Deacon Resource remains open both up and down plunge providing the potential for future growth. Past nickel production and contained reserve/resources for the Deacon/Helmut channel structure make it the most nickel bearing channel structure within the Lanfranchi Mine/Tramways Tenements area. Total historical nickel production by WMC Resources from the Lanfranchi Mine/Tramways Tenements (prior to the acquisition of the project by the Lanfranchi Joint Venture) was 100,000 tonnes of Ni metal.

Since the initial Deacon Resource estimate was released in early March 2007 the drilling focus has been twofold. Firstly to confirm continuity between areas of massive sulphide mineralization which has enabled the previously reported high grade Inferred Resource of 101,000 tonnes at 4.59% Ni (See Company press release dated March 5, 2007) to be converted to the Indicated Resource category. Secondly, additional drill holes were completed around the then known northern (upper) and southern (lower) limits of the resource thereby enabling increased confidence to be assigned to the resources in those areas and further extending the known strike length by 75m. Drilling from the dedicated Deacon hanging wall drill drive was completed by April 2, 2007.

The current drilling focus has now shifted to the up-plunge portion of the Deacon channel structure between the bottom of the Helmut orebody and the currently defined top of the Deacon Resource. An initial program of holes is underway from Stockpile 5 in the footwall off the Helmut South Decline. The aim of this program is to define the shape of the Deacon channel structure and identify an appropriate position for the development of another dedicated hanging wall drill drive to facilitate resource definition drilling in this area.

Work is progressing on a detailed mine plan, Mineral Reserve estimate and project financial analysis. The Joint Venture anticipates that this work will be completed during Q2 2007 and will result in development of the Deacon commencing as early as Q3 2007, contingent upon a positive economic feasibility and subject to the Lanfranchi Joint Venture making a decision to proceed.

(i)Table 1 Notes:

The Deacon Mineral Resource Estimate, which is JORC-compliant, has been prepared by BM Geological Services Pty Ltd. and Lanfranchi Nickel Mines personnel; and has been reconciled to the mineral resource and mineral reserve categories as set out by and adopted by the CIM Council. The estimate is based on a 3D Surpass block model utilizing a block size of 10m NS x 10m EW x 2m vertical with 5.0m x 5.0m x 1.0m sub-cells. The model contains 53 underground diamond holes, comprising a total of 8,650m of drilling. All holes have been accurately located using Leica survey instruments and down-holeEastman survey cameras. Grade interpolation is by Inverse Distance techniques using an oriented search ellipse based on the geometry of the mineralization. Models for validation and verification have also been completed using Ordinary Kriged interpolations.

The tonnes and grade of the Mineral Resource estimate is the material constrained within the interpreted mineralization wireframes which were constructed on sectional interpretations at 50m centres to a 1.6% Ni cut-off grade. When present, high grade massive nickel sulphide mineralization was domained separately.

The Mineral Resource is largely classified as Indicated due to the good continuity of the mineralization, the adequate drill hole spacing and the confidence gained from QA/QC checks and data validation. A small zone of mineralization at the extremities of the resource has been classified as Inferred due to the lack of sample support and poor continuity of grade and lithological controls.

Brilliant Mining Corp. owns a 25% interest in the producing Lanfranchi Nickel Mine together with associated infrastructure, mining leases and mineral claims. The remaining 75% interest in the Lanfranchi JV is owned by Sally Malay Mining Limited. The project is supervised by John Williamson, PGeol, of Edmonton, Alberta, CEO and a Director of Brilliant, and is the qualified person as defined in National Instrument 43-101.
