Brilliant Mining Corp.: Drilling Intersects 4.12% Ni Over 17.1m at the Newly Discovered Deacon Zone; Lanfranchi Mine, Kambalda Nickel District, Western Australia

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 6, 2006) - Brilliant Mining Corp. (TSX VENTURE:BMC) ("Brilliant" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that underground resource definition drilling has commenced on the Deacon zone with the first two holes of a 16 hole program intersecting significant nickel mineralization (See Table 1), Lanfranchi Nickel Mine, Western Australia.

Key Point Summary

- Preliminary 16 hole resource definition drill program has commenced on the newly discovered Deacon zone one month ahead of schedule

- Results from the first two holes in this program include 11m at 2.25% Ni and 17.1m at 4.12% Ni

- Calculated true thicknesses of intersections are 9.16m and 12.78m respectively

- Initial results provide further confidence that Deacon is a significant body of Ni mineralization having the potential to dramatically increase the Lanfranchi Mine resource base

On October 10, 2006 Brilliant released the results of five drill holes (HS212, 215, 233, 234 & 235) identifying a new zone of mineralization, subsequently named Deacon, situated proximal and to the west of the Helmut South orebody (Visit www.brilliantmining.com for updated location maps). Highlighted drill intersections from this program returned extensive mineralized intervals of 90.9m and 111.0m grading 2.29% and 2.90% Ni respectively. The drill positions and orientation of the five holes were not optimal with each intersection expected to have a considerable down plunge component. In order to conduct drill delineation on this new zone, a dedicated drill drive was required to be developed to provide a drill station with an improved orientation to mineralization.

During November 2006, one month ahead of schedule, a new hanging wall exploration drive was developed from the adjacent Helmut South workings to test the Deacon zone. A preliminary 16 hole (totalling 2,400m) resource definition drill program commenced from this drill drive on November 26 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2006.

The Lanfranchi JV (75% Sally Malay Mining Ltd. - 25% Brilliant Mining Corp.) is particularly encouraged by the calculated true widths of the mineralization intersected in the first two Deacon drill-holes and the grade of the massive sulphide mineralization (3m at 6.87% Ni) intersected in HS236. The grades and thicknesses are similar to the main mineralized zones encountered at Helmut South thereby providing further confidence that Deacon is a significant body of mineralization with the potential to dramatically add to the nickel resource inventory at the Lanfranchi Mine. The Deacon mineralization exists wholly outside of the current resources at the Lanfranchi Mine.

The assay results from the first two holes of the Deacon drill program are summarized in Table 1.
