British Artist Amanda Eliasch and Liberatum Slated to Host James Franco's Debut of "Rebel" Vernissage Sponsored by Gucci

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 2, 2011) - Academy Award nominated actor James Franco is set to debut "Rebel," a site-specific installation art exhibit, on September 3rd on the breathtaking Certosa Island at the 54th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, 2011. The avant-garde exhibit will be sponsored by Italian fashion house Gucci, and hosted by Liberatum and British art sensation Amanda Eliasch. Among the exceptionally talented artists in attendance, Madonna, Matt Damon, Henry Hopper, Douglas Gordon, Pablo Ganguli, founder of Liberatum, Frida Gianini, creative director of Gucci, and Patritizio de Martino, CEO of Gucci, will also be showing their support.

"Rebel" showcases artwork by James Franco in collaboration with the renowned Douglas Gordon, Paul McCarthy, Aaron Young, and Harmony Korine. Inspired by the film "Rebel Without A Cause," "Rebel" examines identity and self-creation through the surreal.

As a featured artist of Liberatum, Amanda Eliasch lends herself to this masterful display of art. ''People with more than one talent need to be supported. Without Pablo Ganguli's encouragement, I might not have done a poetry book, a neon light show and a play. This is why I support Liberatum and James Franco. Every opportunity should be given to people which enable them to expand,'' said Eliasch.

The globally sought after artist, playwright and author is known for her eclectic work and contemporary flavor. She fearlessly uses symbolism and irony to convey powerful messages. In addition to wooing contemporary art connoisseurs with her "Peccadilloes" exhibit, a collection of neon depictions of the seven deadly sins, she has written three novels, and launched her first play, a personal memoir, titled "As I Like It."

Founded in 2001 by Pablo Ganguli, Liberatum hosts riveting art festivals to showcase the highest caliber artists and cultural icons in literature, fashion, design, and theater. "Liberatum is delighted to support this new artistic project created by James Franco. His talent and desire to merge art forms are exemplary. Liberatum's vision to connect cultural worlds through diverse creative collaboration and James' multidisciplinary work hold similar values. Therefore it is a great pleasure for me and Amanda Eliasch to partner with James and Gucci for 'Rebel,'" noted Pablo Ganguli.

The vernissage will take on September 3rd at 5pm at the Ortolano House c77 Isola della Certosa.
