British Columbia Lottery Corporation/Media Release: Lotto Super 7 Meets Super-stitious 8

RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Aug. 8, 2008) - Those subscribing to Chinese superstition may feel today provides the best opportunity get "Super Rich", especially with today's Lotto Super 7 jackpot an estimated $10 million.

That's because today's calendar date is 08.08.2008, and eight is considered the most fortunate number in Chinese, because it sounds like the word for "prosperity", "fortune" or "wealth".

In China, it is common to see customized license plates bearing as many number eights as possible, while most large companies pay extra to fit as many number eights in their street addresses or telephone numbers.

Even the Beijing Olympics begin at eight o'clock this evening in order to take advantage of this fortuitous timing and ensure the Games will go off without a hitch.

We just hope that a winner won't be too disappointed the jackpot is $10 million, not $8 million.

Lotto Super 7 is the nationwide lottery game drawn weekly on Friday at 6 p.m. (PDT). Players age 19 and over can purchase tickets at any lottery retailer or on BCLC's web site.
