RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 19, 2009) - Nearly one thousand women poker players will go "all in" to help raise money for breast cancer research this weekend, as BC Casinos presents The 4th Annual Women's Poker Classic.

Held at Cascades Casino in Langley from February 20-22, this popular tournament features three separate Texas Hold'Em events with an estimated total prize pool of over $265,000.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation will receive a donation of $50 per entry, which means $49,000 will be raised for breast cancer research if the tournament is sold out.

"The Women's Poker Classic continues to be an extremely popular event and a great way to help raise funds for breast cancer research," said Darryl Schiewe, BCLC's Vice President of Casino Gaming. "We invite all women poker players and their fans to come out and show their support for such a worthy cause."

"We are absolutely thrilled to be involved with this fantastic event for a fourth straight year," said CBCF CEO, Linda Morris. "To date, it has resulted in over $100,000 in donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, BC/Yukon Region. This money supports important programs and initiatives that are moving us forward towards our goal - a future without the fear of breast cancer by the year 2020."
