British Columbia Lottery Corporation: Players are All-in for Second B.C. Poker Championships

RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 16, 2006) - British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) is proud to present the second annual B.C. Poker Championships. This year's tournament runs November 20 to 26 at River Rock Casino Resort.

The tournament has an estimated prize pool of $3.5 million and the top player could walk away with a grand prize of $750,000!

"The 2005 inaugural tournament was a huge success that received tremendous response from players and spectators," said Brian Lynch, BCLC's Vice-President of Casino Gaming. "We're confident that we will once again exceed players' expectations for an exciting tournament experience."

James Hawkins of Salt Spring Island was last year's top player, winning the grand prize of $382,000. The Championship was only his second tournament, but the experience was truly a memorable one for the 2005 B.C. Poker Champion who has already registered for this year's tournament.

"I look forward to defending my title as the winner of the first B.C. Poker Championship," Hawkins said. "I'm very proud to have been a part of it and look forward to the future of this extraordinary event."

Poker players will have the chance to challenge James Hawkins for this year's Championship title and top prize. Poker enthusiasts aged 19 and over are invited to watch tournament play in the 1,000-seat River Rock Casino Resort Show Theatre.
