British Columbia Lottery Corporation: Third-Largest Advertised Jackpot in Canadian History

RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - April 4, 2007) - Today's Lotto 6/49 jackpot is estimated at an enormous $38 MILLION, making it the third-largest advertised Lotto 6/49 jackpot in Canadian history and the largest of 2007.

With the jackpot nearing record levels, there will be literally thousands of lottery purchases a minute before the cut-off at 6 p.m. today. As "lottery frenzy" takes hold, British Columbia Lottery Corporation is encouraging customers to play responsibly and always sign the back of their tickets.

Already in 2007, two Vancouverites have won Lotto 6/49 jackpots.

- Enone Rosas won $4,163,248

- Mohammed Khan won $3,932,371

In 2006, the following British Columbians won top-tier prizes.

- Ramon Sanz of Abbotsford won $8,214,691

- John Beaumont of Vancouver and Wai-Ling Chow of Richmond each won $5,461,060

Lotto 6/49 is the national lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 6 pm (PST). Players can purchase tickets at any lottery retailer or at PlayNow on bclc.com. Group release forms for people playing in groups can be obtained at local lottery retailers or bclc.com.
