British Columbia Lottery Corporation: Woman Boosts Karma With Lottery Donation

RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 23, 2006) - How did White Rock resident Cathy Delcourt respond when asked what she planned to do with her $25,000 win on the Pink Ticket? She reported that she intends to give 10% to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF). Delcourt is the first top-prize winner on the recently launched ticket which is helping spread awareness of CBCF's "GO-HAVE-1" Campaign.

"I couldn't believe it was real, I thought it was a sample ticket," explained Cathy. "Considering this ticket is spreading the word about breast cancer screening, I'm happy to give a portion of my winnings to such a good cause." Cathy's husband Marc bought the ticket for her at Sunnyside Esso in Surrey, while the couple were enjoying a coffee.

The Pink Ticket, which launched on October 2 in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, features the CBCF pink ribbon logo, provides the "GO-HAVE-1" web site and toll-free phone number for women seeking more information about scheduling a mammogram. The back of the ticket also carries a call to women over the age of 40 to consider having a mammogram and lists statistics about breast cancer.

Beyond raising awareness of the "GO-HAVE-1" campaign, the $2 Pink Ticket offers players the chance to win nearly $1 million in prizes - including a top prize of $25,000. As an added bonus, players have the opportunity to win one of 45,000 Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation "Pink Ribbon" pins. The new Pink Ticket can be purchased at lottery retailers across B.C. Lottery products are only for sale to adults 19 years of age and older. Chances of winning a prize are one in three.
