VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - May 29, 2013) - Shahrzad Rafati, BroadbandTV's founder and CEO was honoured yesterday with YWCA's Women of Distinction Award for Entrepreneurism. The prestigious recognition is bestowed on women whose drive, ingenuity and solid vision for business separates them from their competitors.

"What an honour to be recognized amongst some of the most driven and inspiring women in business," said Rafati. "I am both grateful and humbled to be in the company of my fellow nominees who have made great sacrifices and risk to successfully launch and manage their respective businesses."

In its 30th year, YWCA's annual Women of Distinction Awards honours women whose achievements contribute to the well-being and future of their communities. The awards also recognizes businesses and organizations that support the wellness and the diverse needs of their employees.

"This achievement was well deserved," said Hamed Shahbazi, who sits on BroadbandTV's board of directors. "I have seen Shahrzad consistently produce outstanding results with entrepreneurial ingenuity, an uncompromising force of will and laser like execution. What is perhaps even more important is aside from her professional pursuits, she exemplifies a big heart that is looking for any possible way to help people."

Approximately 90 women were shortlisted for the 2013 Women of Distinction Awards.
