Brocade Executive Named a 2011 Channel Chief by Everything Channel's CRN

Barbara Spicek Recognized for Being a Staunch Channel Advocate and Delivering Partner Profitability

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - February 28, 2011) -  Brocade (NASDAQ: BRCD) today announced Everything Channel's CRN -- the premier provider of IT channel-focused events, media, research, consulting, and sales and marketing services -- has named Barbara Spicek, vice president of Worldwide Channels at Brocade, a "Channel Chief" for consistently defending, promoting and executing effective programs and strategies that drive channel profitability. Spicek was also included on CRN's "Top 100 Most Influential Executives" in the industry rankings as a Channel Maverick for her willingness to challenge conventional wisdom and create positive change for the channel community.

Spicek has spearheaded some of most significant developments to the Brocade Alliance Partner Network (APN) program over the past year, including the program's transition towards rewarding partners based on level of technology expertise and the addition of program elements that help partners capitalize on emerging IT trends. Most recently, Brocade enhanced the APN program with the addition of the Virtualized Fabric Partner and Application Delivery Partner Specializations to help channel partners capitalize on Ethernet fabric-based business opportunities enabled through the sales of the Brocade® VDX™ 6720 Data Center Switches and VCS™ software.

"We applaud Barbara for being recognized as a CRN Channel Chief," said Steve Lankard, Sr. Director at Agilysys. "Her straight-talk, desire for channel feedback and direction, focus on channel profitability and delivery of differentiated programs makes Brocade a valued partner. Agilysys has been a Brocade partner since the early 1990s when Brocade entered the data center with their best-in-class Fibre Channel switches. We've had tremendous growth in our SAN and storage solution business with Brocade. Agilysys and Brocade are working together to provide our customers with IP solutions and newly emerging Ethernet fabric designs which enable massive virtualization and cloud deployments."

The criteria for selecting Channel Chiefs include the executive's ability to implement policy and program innovations during the past year, the amount of revenue the company generates through partners and the nominee's willingness to speak out publicly on behalf of the channel as well as the number of years dedicated to channel activities. Since being appointed to her current role in February 2009, Spicek has been instrumental in introducing a number of new initiatives to the APN program with the goal of fully enabling the channel to profitably deliver value-added solutions and services to their customers.

"It's a privilege to be named a 2011 Channel Chief by CRN and this recognition signifies to me that our channel strategy is positively resonating with partners," said Barbara Spicek, vice president of Worldwide Channels at Brocade. "The channel today is undergoing change at a tremendous rate and it's my personal responsibility to provide partners with the tools and skill sets necessary to chart the course and successfully capitalize on exciting market transitions, including wide-scale virtualization, Ethernet fabric-based technologies and the cloud."

"Being named a Channel Chief is one of the most prestigious honors in the IT industry. This year's Channel Chiefs offer tremendous insight into the who's who of the Channel," said Kelley Damore, vice president and editorial director at Everything Channel. "Top channel executives consistently ensure that the Channel's voice is heard when strategic decisions are being made and continually nurture mutually profitable relationships. We applaud this year's Channel Chiefs for their successful partner programs and strategies."
