Brooke Denihan Barrett Named 2012 Woman of Influence by Real Estate Forum

For the Second Year in a Row Denihan Hospitality Group's Co-CEO Garners Prestigious Industry Award

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Aug 27, 2012) - Brooke Denihan Barrett, Co-CEO of Denihan Hospitality Group, has been named a 2012 "Woman of Influence" by Real Estate Forum, the leading national publication of the commercial real estate industry. This is the second consecutive year that Barrett has been named to this prestigious list of 45 of 'the most powerful and prominent female executives in commercial real estate.'

Barrett is the only women in New York City -- and one of only a handful in the world -- to own and run a hotel investment and management company. Over the past year, she has helped to secure Denihan's first-ever joint-venture, giving real estate investment trust Pebblebrook Hotel Trust a 49 percent ownership stake in six of the company's core Manhattan assets and raising significant capital to fuel national strategic growth for Denihan. Barrett also opened Denihan's first west coast development office in San Francisco and restructured the 50-year-old family hospitality business, naming the first non-family member to the position of president, in support of its aggressive growth goals.

Barrett is known for her deep-rooted passion for personally mentoring promising young Denihan associates and other young women in the hospitality and commercial real estate industries. In 2011 she was a founder of the American Hotel and Lodging Association's New York and New Jersey Chapter of Women in Lodging, a national organization fueling the mission to promote women into executive positions within the lodging industry and contribute to business development efforts, including women's markets.

"To receive this award for the second year in a row is an incredible personal honor but also a true testament to Denihan and the many accomplishments our team has made over the past year," said Barrett. "Additionally, mentoring is something I hold very close. Given the male dominance of the hospitality and commercial real estate industries, I think female executives have an obligation to provide support for aspiring young women in order to accelerate their professional opportunities."

Each year Real Estate Forum honors a group of women within the commercial real estate industry and awards them the title of "Women of Influence." Nominees are judged upon the impact they've made on the industry in the last year as well as their professional achievements and milestones. Nominees must also have devoted a significant amount of time and effort mentoring other aspiring females in the industry, providing them with greater knowledge and increased opportunities.

"These outstanding women executives are selected by the editors from hundreds of candidates throughout the U.S.," said Sule Aygoren, editor of Real Estate Forum. "This short list is not easy to compile. We salute the winners, who are truly the best of the best."
