Brookfield Renewable Power Inc. to Redeem C$400 Million of 8.75% Series 5 Notes

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 14, 2010) -


Brookfield Renewable Power Inc. (the "Company") today announced that it has exercised its right to redeem its C$400,000,000, 8.75%, Series 5 Notes, due February 3, 2012 on November 15, 2010.

The specific redemption price will be made available through a press release to be issued by the Company on November 12, 2010. The redemption price for the Notes will be determined in accordance with the provisions of the trust indenture dated December 16, 2004, the amended and restated third supplemental indenture dated as of February 3, 2009 and pricing supplements nos. 1 and 2 dated February 3, 2009 and April 9, 2009, respectively, to the Company's short form base shelf prospectus dated July 28, 2008, as supplemented by a prospectus supplement dated April 9, 2009. The redemption amount paid will also include accrued and unpaid interest on the Notes up to, but not including, the redemption.

Notice of redemption will be delivered today to CDS Clearing and Depository Services Inc. ("CDS") and the trustee, BNY Trust Company of Canada. Non-registered holders (banks, brokerage firms or other financial institutions) who maintain their interests in the Notes through CDS should contact their CDS customer service representative with any questions about the redemption. Alternatively, beneficial holders with any questions about the redemption should contact their representative brokerage firm or financial institution, which holds interests in the Notes on their behalf.
