Brookline College Announces New Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree in Phoenix, Arizona

Enrollment Now Open for Bachelor of Science in Nursing

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - Jun 23, 2011) - Brookline College, a multi-campus higher education company headquartered in Phoenix, announced it has begun accepting applications for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at its Phoenix campus located at 2445 W. Dunlap Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona.

The intensive, full-time program prepares individuals for a career as a nurse. After successfully completing the 120 week program, students will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN examination.

"We are pleased to expand the options available to students who want to pursue a career in nursing," said Dr. Carol Kleinman, Executive Dean of Nursing at Brookline College. "As a nursing educator for the past 30 years, I understand the critical need to educate more nurses, especially those at the bachelor's level. Numerous studies have shown that care provided by bachelor's prepared nurses is associated with improved health outcomes."

According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), the number of applications to entry-level baccalaureate programs increased 8.6% from 2009 to 2010. The AACN attributes increase to growing student demand and changing employer expectations. According to an AACN news release, although interest in nursing careers remains strong, many individuals seeking to enter the profession cannot be accommodated in nursing programs despite meeting all program entrance requirements. Preliminary AACN data showed that 52,115 qualified applications were turned away from 565 entry-level baccalaureate nursing programs in 2010 (www.aacn.nche.edu/Media/NewsReleases/2010/baccgrowth.html).

This BSN program complements Brookline College's existing Bachelor of Science in Nursing for Baccalaureate Degree Graduates, which began in 2010. Brookline College also offers a variety of other degrees and diplomas in healthcare fields.

Brookline is now accepting applications for the first class, which is scheduled to begin in September of 2011. For more information, contact Brookline College at (866) 514-3821 or visit www.brooklinecollege.edu.
