Brookline Hotel Team Joins Forces for Jeans on Friday Charitable Drive

Courtyard Boston Brookline Staff Raises Money to Make Blankets for Boston Children's Hospital

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Feb 24, 2014) - Being away from home isn't easy for anyone, but for the young patients at Boston Children's Hospital, it's an especially difficult situation. To help the hospital feel a little more like home, the staff at the Courtyard Boston Brookline banded together to raise money and make blankets for patients.

In December and January, the hotel near Boston Children's Hospital held a Jeans on Friday event, offering associates the opportunity to wear jeans to work on Friday for a minimum donation of $3 per Friday. The money raised from the event went toward making blankets, which were then donated to the Boston Children's Hospital.

The hospital, one of the largest pediatric medical centers in the country, treats children from birth to 21 years of age, and takes in about 25,000 patients a year. It also houses one of the world's largest pediatric hospital research arms with more than 1,100 scientists and a number-one ranking in 10 specialties listed in the 2013-14 edition of Best Children's Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report

Jeans on Friday is just another of the ways this hotel near Longwood Medical Center aims to give back to the local community. For Thanksgiving last year, staff put together five Salvation Army brown bags that helped feed 22 hungry people. The families who received the bags enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving meal with turkey, stuffing, gravy and pie. The following month, the hotel near Boston College connected with the Salvation Army again to adopt a family for the holiday season.
