About Jonah's Just Begun
Jonah's Just Begun-Foundation to cure Sanfilippo Inc. was created in 2010 in honor of Jonah Weishaar, a Brooklyn toddler who suffers from a neurological degenerative fatal disorder called Sanfilippo Syndrome type C. There are only 18 known case of Sanfilippo type C in the US, two of those cases are in Queens and Brooklyn. The foundation raises funds for medical research. The funds are then allocated to a consortion of scientists working on treatments for Sanfilippo Syndrome. In just the past two years Jonah's Just Begun has funded science for the creation of the first ever Sanfilippo animal model and contributed other funds for chaperone therapy, gene therapy and academic research.
