Brooks Eckerd Pharmacy joins Surescripts Membership Program as Charter Member

LONGUEUIL, QC, Sept. 8 /CCNMatthews/ - The Jean Coutu Group (PJC), Inc.,
the fourth largest drugstore chain in North America, announced that its wholly
owned subsidiary, The Jean Coutu Group (PJC) USA, Inc. ("PJC USA" or "the
Company" which operates under the name Brooks Eckerd Pharmacy), has become a
Charter Member of the SureScripts Membership Program. SureScripts is the
largest network provider of true electronic prescribing services in the United
States.
Brooks Eckerd Pharmacy has been a long-time champion of SureScripts'
mission to improve the prescribing process. The company supported SureScripts
from its initial development, participating in the Rhode Island Quality
Initiative, the first statewide electronic prescribing program in the U.S. It
also executed the first true electronic transmission between pharmacists and
physicians and participated in a number of meetings, presentations and studies
dedicated to advancing e-prescribing in the U.S.
