The complaint accuses defendants Genzyme and Henri A. Termeer (President and CEO) with violations of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 by virtue of the Company's failure to disclose during the Class Period that deficiencies at two of its manufacturing facilities, which caused a shortage in one of its top-selling products (Myozyme) and delayed approval of a new formulation of that product (Lumizyme). These manufacturing problems also forced the Company to halt production of two other top-selling products (Cerezyme and Fabrazyme). According to the complaint, as a result of this undisclosed information, the value of Genzyme's stock declined significantly.
