BRP Expands Commercial Operations in Mexico

Company plans to have a network of 75 dealers for complete national coverage in three years

MEXICO, D.F.--(Marketwire - Oct. 16, 2008) - Bombardier Recreational Products Inc., (BRP), a leader in the manufacturing and distribution of recreational motorized vehicles, reinforces its presence in Mexico by establishing a network of direct sales for Can-Am and Sea-Doo products starting on November 1, 2008. Over the next three years, the company's presence will be ensured in 32 states with its own network which will reach approximately 75 authorized BRP dealerships.

BRP has been present in Mexico since 2001 and operates a manufacturing plant in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, where the company produces all-terrain vehicles (ATV) for distribution in more than 80 countries. Since then, BRP has doubled the number of its employees to 750 and is currently developing its own network of Mexican suppliers. Commercial operations will be run from BRP's new office in Guadalajara.

Messrs. Jose Boisjoli, BRP's president and chief executive officer, and Chris Dawson, vice-president and general manager of BRP's International division, made the announcement at a press conference during the Salon Internacional de la Motocicleta Mexico 2008.

"Our decision to implement direct commercial operations in selected markets is part of a strategy we have been deploying in Europe since 2006. In Mexico, our goal is to consolidate our presence by getting closer to consumers with our products and services through our own dealer network," said Jose Boisjoli. "Over the past few years, BRP has transferred the manufacturing of Can-Am Outlander and Renegade ATVs from Canada to Ciudad Juarez. Today's announcement means we will now be offering our line of recreational products to Mexicans directly," added Boisjoli.

"The market for recreational motorized products in Latin America is a large one and we believe there is a strong growth potential in Mexico itself, particularly with the introduction of the Can-Am Spyder roadster", said Chris Dawson. "For BRP, Mexico is an important market which presents opportunities created by the various free trade agreements (FTAs). Over time, BRP's relationship with the dealer network will allow us to get a better understanding of our Mexican consumers to anticipate their needs and present products that will satisfy their quest for the ultimate powersports experience. We believe we will be successful," concluded Dawson.
