BRP: Sea-Doo'R' 2006 Sport Boats to be Powered by Rotax 4-TEC'R' Jet Drive Engines

WHISTLER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 21, 2005) -

New 430-hp Sea-Doo Speedster™ leads the way with fully loaded Speedster WAKE™ ready to tow

Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP) announces that all its 2006 Sea-Doo® sport boats will come equipped with Rotax® 4-TEC®marine engine packages providing up to 30% more power.

Sea-Doo sport boats present clear advantages over traditional powered runabouts with jet drive systems and offer quicker planing, less bow rise, more precise handling, and minimal draft. The 4-TEC marine engine packages enhance the advantages of jet drive with the benefits of closed-loop cooling, D-Sea-Bel™ sound reduction system, D.E.S.S.™ (Digitally Encoded Security System), and electronic fuel injection.

"BRP revolutionized recreational boating when we combined jet drive technology with traditional, yet innovative 15-22 foot boat designs," commented Pierre Arsenault, Vice-President and General Manager for Snowmobiles, Watercraft, ATVs and Sport Boats. "The 2006 line-up of Sea-Doo sport boats allows us to offer boating enthusiasts all of the desired attributes of a premium runabout with the advantages of Rotax 4-TEC powered jet drives."

Joining the 310-hp Speedster™ 200 in 2006 is the new intercooled 430-hp supercharged Speedster 200, a high-performance 20-foot open bow sport boat with an additional 60-hp for incredible acceleration and responsiveness. Also revamped for 2006, are the Islandia™ and Islandia SE. Both models will be equipped with 310hp Rotax 4-TEC power-packs. With 60 additional horsepower, these 22-foot platforms will be powered into elite status among high-performance deck boats. The Utopia 205® and Utopia 205 SE feature updated design attributes and will be equipped with the 310-hp 4-TEC marine engine packages, giving these classic sport boat platforms 60 additional horsepower for 2006.

The new 310-hp Sea-Doo Speedster WAKE™ sport boat replaces the Challenger™ X for 2006 and is specifically designed for wakeboarding. It is competitively priced and very well equipped to compete in the boating industry's fastest growing segment. Premium equipment is standard on the 2006 WAKE including remote controlled 600 lb. (272 kg) ballast system, PerfectPass(+) pro speed control, wakeboard tower with speakers, and PA system.

The new 215-hp Challenger™ 180 SC is equipped with a full glass windshield and is joined by the Challenger 180 as the value-minded 18-foot sport boats with the deck space of many 20-foot platforms. Returning to the 2006 Sea-Doo sport boats line-up is the 15-foot Sportster™ with a choice of a 155-hp Rotax 4-TEC marine engine or the intercooled 215-hp supercharged Rotax 4-TEC power-pack. Every model in the 2006 Sea-Doo sport boats line offers quieter operation through the D-Sea-Bel™ sound reduction system, greater engine reliability with the Rotax 4-TEC closed-loop cooling system, and on-water atmosphere with a Clarion(++) AM/FM/CD stereo. To elevate the on-water fun an optional wakeboard tower is available for nearly every model in 2006.

"With Rotax 4-TEC engines across the board in 2006, we now offer premier engine technology with legendary Sea-Doo designs that completely integrate functionality and eye-catching looks for ultimate fun on the water," said Arsenault.
