Brussels City Centre Hotel Offers Mobile Check-in for On-the-Go Travellers

As One of the First European Properties to Feature the Mobile App, the Brussels Marriott Hotel Leads the Way for Tech-Friendly Conveniences

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM--(Marketwired - Dec 18, 2013) - Travel and technology have enjoyed a long, mutually beneficial relationship. From Plug-In panels in hotel guest rooms, to complimentary Wi-Fi in lobbies, technology is increasingly used to enhance the travel experience. But perhaps the best example of what technology can do is Marriott's Mobile App, which includes a mobile check-in feature that is making waves at the Brussels Marriott Hotel and beyond.

As one of the finest conference hotels in Brussels, the Brussels Marriott Hotel is accustomed to welcoming travellers who are as tech-savvy as they are cosmopolitan. This made the hotel a natural choice to be one of the first 20 international Marriott properties to offer mobile check-in after the feature had been launched at 329 hotels in the U.S. and Canada.

The response has been so positive, that Marriott intends to offer both mobile check-in and mobile check-out at all 500 hotels in 2014.

The feature was developed in response to the evolving needs of modern travellers. As a recent report by GroupM Next found, 57 percent of business travellers aged 21 to 39 use their smartphones to book hotels. Checking in is simply the next step -- and it's just the beginning. Marriott is developing other mobile enhancements that let guests make service requests for things like additional towels or wake-up calls via smartphones.

Unique among four-star hotels in Brussels, this property not only spearheaded the new feature, it also celebrated its initiation. The first person to utilize mobile check-in, Mr. Gibbs, enjoyed a personalised welcome and a bubbly toast upon arrival. Those who follow suit may not receive a glass of Champagne when they check in, but they will appreciate the expedited service. Marriott Rewards members who download the app can check in to their hotel as early as 4 p.m. the day before their arrival. When their room is ready, they'll receive an automatic notification and, when they walk through the hotel doors, they simply visit the designated mobile check-in desk to collect their key card and head to their room.

The convenient feature is as ideal for busy corporate guests visiting Brussels to attend a meeting as it is for vacationers looking to spend less time travelling and more time sightseeing. After all, this Brussels hotel excels in offering customer convenience, whether it's in a guest room's generous workspace and satellite television, or the property's city centre location, near Midi Station, Grand Place and all the best that Belgium has to offer. Mobile check-in simply lets guests enjoy all of that faster.
