Bryant & Stratton College Online and Salute to Spouses Host Military Education Webinar

Veterans, Active Duty Military and Their Families Can Learn About Options for Degrees, What to Look for in a School and Tuition Assistance During "Back to School Bootcamp" on July 21

BUFFALO, NY--(Marketwire - Jul 11, 2011) - Bryant & Stratton College Online and Salute to Spouses announced today an upcoming webinar for veterans, active duty military and their families who are considering going to school. The webinar, titled "Back to School Bootcamp," will be held on Thursday, July 21 at noon EDT and is intended to be a military education resource. The "Back to School Bootcamp" will provide prospective military affiliated students the opportunity to evaluate the benefits of higher education and their career options. The webinar will highlight topics such as the variety of tuition assistance options available, portable careers and a checklist for finding an accredited school and degree program.

"Typically there are three things that factor the most in choosing to go to school: time, money and achieving career goals; this webinar will look at all three from the unique lens of someone involved in the military," said Ed Dennis, Military Relations Manager at Bryant & Stratton College Online. "The latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the unemployment rate among 18 to 24-year-old veterans was 11.6 percent -- nearly 2 percentage points higher than the national average, 9.7 percent. While educational attainment does not guarantee employment, earning a degree can certainly push someone in the right direction."

The webinar will explore financial aid available to military, such as military tuition assistance programs, the G.I. bill, state and federal student aid and scholarships. Attendees will also learn about what qualifications they should consider before choosing a school, how to leverage online degree programs to start their education while actively serving and tips for military spouses to identify careers that can be easily moved from base to base.

A panel of speakers with a variety of military and education expertise will lead the webinar. Panelists include:

  • MAJ (ret) Ed Dennis, Military Relations Manager at Bryant & Stratton College Online
  • Pamela McBride, Career Management Professional, Military Life Expert, Author and military spouse
  • Allison Perkins, Editor at SalutetoSpouses.com and military spouse

"Making the decision to go back to school is life changing, especially for our troops and their families whose lives can be uprooted at any time," said Perkins. "This webinar will provide information that will show military personnel and their family that balancing military life with school or a career is possible."
