BSH Home Appliances and the Eddie Nash Foundation Spread Holiday Cheer Through Festive Culinary Workshop for Foster Youth

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 23, 2014) - BSH Home Appliances joined the Eddie Nash Foundation in hosting a festive culinary workshop this weekend, December 20, at the BSH Experience & Design Center for more than 40 foster youth between the ages of 14 and 25. The "Food for Thought: Culinary Creations," event brought together volunteers, foster youth and others to partake in the joy of holiday cooking while learning valuable life skills and gaining culinary insight.

"BSH Home Appliances was delighted to have had the opportunity to partner with the Eddie Nash Foundation and influence the lives of young adults through the art of cooking," said Lore McKenna, Public Relations and Social Media Manager at BSH Home Appliances. "The holiday season is truly a time to spread warmth and cheer, and the kitchen is such a lovely place to do just that."

The Eddie Nash Foundation's Passport to Success: Life Skills Workshop series is designed to give foster youth guidance in important life skills before they transition to life as an independent adult. Professional chefs at BSH provided the young adults in the program with the opportunity to enjoy hands on cooking while teaching them about nutrition, menu planning, food safety and comparative shopping. The day concluded with a festive celebration over a delicious meal, gifts for all and holiday music.

"This heartwarming event was exactly what we had hoped it would be and it was a pleasure partnering with BSH Home Appliances to enrich the lives of these young adults," said Bryan "Eddie" Nash, Founder of the Eddie Nash Foundation for Foster Youth. "The kids were initially guarded with arms crossed, but by the time they started cooking it was all smiles and lots of joy! I am sure lives were changed."

As part of the ongoing program at the Eddie Nash Foundation, foster youth are introduced to inspiring individuals who have volunteered to show support and provide a fresh perspective on adulthood. Their mission is to empower young adults, through collaborative efforts with community partners and creative programming, with the essential skills they need to live independent, productive lives once they embark on the journey of adulthood outside their foster homes.
