BST Announces Acquisition of RCI Safety

Combining a Leading Edge Safety Management System With BST's Proven Safety Methodology Promises to Significantly Reduce Safety Incidents

OJAI, CA--(Marketwired - November 04, 2014) - Global consultancy BST (http://www.bstsolutions.com) today announced the acquisition of RCI Safety (http://www.rcisafety.com), a safety software and consulting firm headquartered in Horton, Kansas. The acquisition, completed by BST parent company DEKRA, adds web-based data management capabilities to BST's suite of safety consulting solutions. Client organizations will have access to single-source tracking of critical safety-related and operational data, including behavior-based safety observations, audits, incident investigations, quality management, and other system information.

While web-based data tracking is the gold standard for safety data management, few organizations have access to a system that can capture the various types of information necessary for effective incident reduction. RCI Safety's proprietary solution allows organizations to record and analyze data from multiple sources, effectively eliminating the information siloes that have plagued the safety field.

DEKRA Insight and BST CEO Colin Duncan says the acquisition furthers DEKRA's vision of being the world leader in protecting lives. "We believe this partnership will create a powerful disruptive service in safety and forever change the way companies protect their employees and assets," says Duncan. "Effective data management is critical to informing decisions about resources and risk. By pairing BST's proprietary methodology and thought leadership in analytics with RCI Safety's technology, we are giving organizations the tools to close the gap between data and insight."

The enhanced offerings will include adapting the web-based system to use BST's methodology, the only behavior-based safety system proven to reduce injuries by as much as 25% within 12 months and 50% within five years. In addition, users of the safety management system can look forward to managing data for both single and multiple sites in over 60 languages. The system will also provide automated analytics, helping clients identify trends and issues, as well as benchmarking performance against other companies and industries.

For RCI Safety, the acquisition represents a powerful endorsement of the firm's work and mission. RCI Safety President and CEO Ron Demaray says the change in ownership will allow significant growth opportunities for both the firm's services and staff, saying "BST's dedication to safety and business excellence is a perfect fit with RCI Safety's commitment to protecting the health, wellbeing, and lives of employees."

RCI Safety and its staff will join BST and process safety consultancy Chilworth within the DEKRA Insight service unit, the consulting arm of DEKRA S.E. The service unit has 19 offices in 16 countries serving clients in a range of sectors including oil & gas, chemicals, cosmetics, personal and household products, pharmaceuticals, transportation, utilities, agriculture, and mining.
