BT Infonet Implements Internet-Based MPLS VPN For Donaldson Company, Inc.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(CCNMatthews - Jul 14, 2005) -

Maker of Filtration Systems Uses BT Infonet's Internet-Based MPLS VPN Service to Support Manufacturing of Disk Drive Filters in Thailand

BT Infonet, a leading provider of global communications services for multinationals and part of BT Global Services, today announced the signing of a contract to provide Internet-based IP VPN services to Donaldson Company, Inc., a leading worldwide manufacturer of filtration systems and parts.

With 2004 sales of over USD 1.4 billion and more than 10,000 employees worldwide, Donaldson serves customers in the industrial and diesel engine markets with air, liquid and gas filtration. In May, the company opened up a new manufacturing location in Thailand focused on the production of filters for disk drives.

To support communications and business processes between the Thailand plant and Donaldson's offices in the U.S. and Belgium, Donaldson implemented BT Infonet's IP VPN Internet -- an MPLS service that combines the cost effectiveness of an Internet backbone with the inherent security of an MPLS network.

"In looking for a communications partner, we needed a provider with a strong presence in Asia and the ability to meet our cost requirements," commented Patrick Jerich, Donaldson's Director of IT Operations. "We're very happy with our choice. I was impressed with how quickly BT Infonet installed our circuits, and their local language help desks have given our Thailand IT staff a level of control over the network that they didn't have before."

Larry Malone, president of BT Infonet USA added, "With IP VPN Internet, Donaldson has the flexibility to try out MPLS on a single class of service basis. In the future, if new sites or new classes of service need to be rolled out, that can be done in a short amount of time. In addition, since the network is closely tied into their manufacturing cycle, we're supporting Donaldson with strong service level agreements."
